Portland for All endorses Simone Rede for re-election as Portland City Auditor because she has served as an independent watchdog for the city, promoting an open and accountable government by overseeing performance audits, elections, and public transparency.
With fewer reporters covering city government, voters need a strong and effective City Auditor to review city operations. The Auditor’s role in stewardship and transparency in our city government is to provide independent, objective oversight of the effectiveness of governance structures and processes. Rede has served Portlanders well and deserves re-election.
Critical to the Auditor’s role is independence from City leadership, maintained through accountability to the public and freedom from bias or interference in their audit work, so Portlanders can trust the results. The Auditor has sole authority to select areas for review.

Key dates for Oregon’s 2026 November elections
Ballots are mailed to voters on October 14. Ballots must be returned to an Official County Dropbox by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, or postmarked by Election Day.
Important mail by notice: The U.S. Post Office has changed its “postmark policy,” so make sure you give them extra time to process your ballot in time for Election Day. The Oregon Secretary of State's Office encourages voters returning their ballots by mail to do so 7 days before Election Day, which is Tuesday, Oct. 27.

The 2026 elections will be incredibly meaningful to the future of our region. Voters in Portland and Multnomah County will use ranked-choice voting to select their preferred candidates.
